Karakalpak Musical Drama Theater named after Berdakh

The Berdakh Karakalpak State Musical Drama Theater is the main cultural center of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, located in the city of Nukus. The theater is named after the great poet and thinker Berdakh (1827-1900), considered the founder of Karakalpak literature and a spiritual symbol of the people.

The theater was founded in the first half of the 20th century and has since become the center of the cultural life of the region. Musical dramas, comedies, national epics and modern productions reflecting the life and traditions of the Karakalpak people are staged on its stage.
