Uzbekistan is actively developing tourism and simplifying visa formalities for citizens of many countries. Today, there are several categories of entry: visa-free, electronic visa and regular visa. Below are the details for each category.

Visa-free entry

Citizens of about 60 countries can visit Uzbekistan without a visa. Among them:

  • CIS countries: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine.
  • European countries: Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Switzerland and others.
  • Asia and the Middle East: Turkey, Israel, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan.
  • Other countries: Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile.

For citizens of these countries, it is enough to have a valid passport. The period of stay without a visa is usually 30 days, but for some countries it can be extended to 60 or 90 days.

Electronic visa (e-visa)

If your country is not included in the visa-free list, you can apply for an electronic visa. This is a simplified process that allows you to apply online. E-visa is available for citizens of more than 50 countries, including:

  • India
  • China
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Mexico
  • Republic of South Africa

An electronic visa is issued for up to 30 days and allows single or multiple entry.

Regular visa

For citizens of countries that are not on the visa-free list or do not have access to e-visa, a regular visa is required through the Consulate of Uzbekistan. This applies, for example, to citizens of Pakistan, Afghanistan and some African countries. To obtain a visa, you will need an invitation (LOI) from the host country.

Special features for tourists

  • Transit entry: If you are traveling through Uzbekistan in transit, you may not need a visa if you do not leave the airport transit area..
  • Registration: Upon entry to Uzbekistan, tourists are required to register within 3 days. This can be done through the hotel or online..

Uzbekistan strives to make travel as comfortable as possible, so visa rules are regularly simplified. Before traveling, it is recommended to check the relevant information on the official websites of the consulates or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
