Zaaminskoe reservoir
The Zaamin reservoir was established in 1987 in the Jizzakh region on the Zaaminsu River for irrigation. Its volume varies from 51 to 20 million m3. The maximum depth is 73 m, the dimensions are 3.2 x 0.8 km. The dam at the artificial lake is earthen, reaches a height of 73.5 m and a length of 408 m. The turquoise water reservoir is surrounded by the mountains of the Turkestan Pamir-Alai range.
Near the reservoir is the famous Zaamin National Park, which houses the Zaamin sanatorium, private boarding houses, and orphanages. The protected area is famous for its forests of Archi — Turkestan juniper tree. Swimming in the lake is prohibited, as it serves as a source of drinking water in the region.
