Stone Forest
A unique open-air paleontological museum is located in the Uchkuduk district of Navoi region, 30 km from the village of Mingbulak.
The stone forest in the Jarakuduk tract is a unique natural phenomenon. According to scientific assumptions, a real stone forest grew here more than 96 million years ago as a result of the evolution of nature based on plane trees of centuries-old trees.
The Stone Forest is a unique and indelible page of the distant past, which has not gone unnoticed even after several million years.
According to an ancient legend, a meteorite fell on this area many millennia ago. As a result, the sea has disappeared and the local land remains in the depths under the scorching sun and surrounded by boulders. As a result of physical and chemical phenomena, the remains of local animals and plants were subjected to desiccation and turned into stones.
The remains of the most ancient land and marine animals have also been discovered here. By the way, even today on the territory you can find ancient prints on stones depicting the trunks of the rarest trees and plants.
