Tuzkan
The Aidar-Arnasai lake system was formed in the east of the Kyzylkum Desert in 1969, after the Aidar depression was filled with the discharge waters of the Chardara reservoir. Before that, there was a lake of natural origin Tuzkan on its territory. During the hot months, it periodically dried out. The modern reservoir has a significant imprint of man-made impact and a maximum size of 35x25 km.
Tuzkan is located 56 km northeast of the city of Jizzakh. Previously, it was connected to the artificial lake Aydarkul by a small bridge. In 1994, an overflowing reservoir destroyed the access dams. Lakes Tuzkan and Aydarkul are connected over a long stretch.
