The Mausoleum of Imam-ota
Located in the picturesque mountainous area of the Khojaabad district of the Andijan region, the Imam-ota shrine is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in Uzbekistan. This historical and architectural complex includes a mausoleum built in honor of Imam Muhammad Hanafi, the son of the governor of Khorasan, Hazrat Ali, who received the popular nickname Bobo Khorsan.
Muhammad Hanafia himself is revered here as Imam ota – "father imam", for his great contribution to the spread of Islam in Central Asia. The mausoleum, built in the 18th century and restored at the end of the 19th century, is an important architectural monument, which has been under state protection since 1982. The place is interesting not only for its spiritual significance, but also for its natural surroundings: the village of Imam Ota, surrounded by greenery and surrounded by the mountains of the Chilustun range, is famous for its sacred spring with healing brackish water, which gives rise to a local river.
A visit to this complex offers a unique combination of deep immersion in Islamic history and enjoying the unspoiled beauty of the Ferghana Valley.
