Museum of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan in Tashkent
The Museum of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan in Tashkent is one of the most interesting and popular. It was founded in 1965 as the Museum of the History of the Turkestan Military District. The exhibition was dedicated to the entry of Uzbekistan into the Russian Empire, and then into the USSR, and the participation of Uzbek troops in the Great Patriotic War.
In 1975, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Victory, the "Park of Military Glory" was laid out around the museum building. An exhibition of military equipment was created in the park, and in its center stood a huge monument to the Defender of the Southern Borders.
In 1991, the museum was renamed the State Museum of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the exposition underwent significant changes. At the beginning of the 20th century, the park was also reconstructed.
Now it is called "Jasorat". The six—meter-high monument of the Defender was dismantled, the exhibition of military equipment was removed, and a new sculpture appeared - "Oath to the Motherland", by Ravshan Mirtadzhiev.
It is located just opposite the entrance to the museum and now forms an architectural and semantic whole with it, military-patriotic events are held in front of it. The neighboring building is the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Behind the museum building is the Mullah Qasim Mosque and a small cemetery.
