Museum of Great Thinkers

In 2017, at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a museum dedicated to the great thinkers of Uzbekistan was established in Kokand. The museum's construction project belongs to the famous Uzbek architect S. Sutyagin.

The museum's exposition consists of 5 sections. The first section is devoted to the science and culture of Central Asia. This section contains information about prominent Eastern thinkers Abu Rayhan Biruni, Avicenna, al-Farabi, al-Ferghani, al-Bukhari, Mahmoud Kashgari, Ahmad Yassawi, as well as copies of their manuscripts.

The second section of the museum tells about the great personalities of the Timurid era, historical works created during this era. Also in this section you can learn a lot of interesting things from the life of prominent personalities of the Fergana Valley of the XVIII-XIX centuries.
The museum also provides extensive coverage of the Jadid movement in Turkestan, the life and work of its prominent representatives – Mahmudhoji Behbudi, Abdurauf Fitrat, Abdullah Avloni, Ibrahim Davron and Iskhakhan Ibrat. There are also exhibits on the art of calligraphy in Kokand, national crafts, and information about sacred pilgrimage sites. A special place in the museum is occupied by a section dedicated to outstanding academics born in the Fergana Valley – Kori Niesi, Tesh Zokhidova, Rahima Aminova, Pulata Kayumiy, Ust Boki and others.
