The legend of Termez
The city of Termez is one of the most ancient cities in Uzbekistan, it is about 2500 thousand years old, and is also the southernmost city and borders Afghanistan. From the time of the city's creation to the present day, it has been conquered many times by different civilizations that have left their mark behind. So the city originates as part of the Achaemenid state, after Alexander the Great conquered it, then the city was renamed Demetris, then it became part of the Greco-Bactrian state. Then the city becomes part of the Kushan kingdom and becomes the center of the spread of Buddhism. During this period, monuments to Buddhism were being built. The city was also captured by the Arabs, Genghis Khan, Timurids, and mosques, mausoleums, and palaces were built. A real Klondike of sights and rich history.
