The Element Electronic Music Festival
The festival of electronic Music, Art and Science "Element" has been held annually in Uzbekistan since 2017. During the event, you can hear musicians from around the world who play in the styles of ambient techno, electro, acid techno, hardcore live, techno-trance and underground. During the "Elements" there is also a scientific forum that brings together scientists and experts, as well as exhibitions and fairs of national clothing and handicrafts.
The first "Element" festival was held in the open air at the bottom of the former Aral Sea – at the ship cemetery in Muynak – and was designed to draw the attention of the world community to the environmental problem of the region. Thus, the festival brought together not only music lovers, but also eco-activists. The "Element" has changed its venue only once – in 2023, the festival was held in the desert near Bukhara.
In the first year, musicians from Uzbekistan, Georgia and Russia performed at the "Elements". Every year, the geography of the participating countries expanded. Musicians from the USA, Canada, Germany, Sweden, France, the Netherlands, China, Iran, Egypt, Japan, India, Kazakhstan, Karakalpakstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and other countries could be heard at the festival.
Traditionally, the "Element" festival lasts for three days. During this time, dozens of performances are held at several concert venues, which are attended by thousands of guests from different countries.
Since the festival takes place in the open air, guests can stay in a tent city. It is better to take warm clothes with you, because at night the air temperature in the desert drops to 5-10 degrees Celsius. There are showers and toilets on the territory of the tent city. The organizers recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, mosquito spray, dry and wet wipes, a flashlight, water and a snack. Please note that it is forbidden to cook on your own during the festival. But there is a bar and an open-air kitchen. The cellular connection at the festival is working.
The security of the "Elements" is monitored by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan. There is also a medical center and a fire department on site. Nevertheless, it is better not to leave personal belongings and documents unattended.
Guided tours are also held as part of the festival. For example, guests are invited to visit the famous Savitsky Museum in Nukus.
