Termez City Zoo

Living in the city, we often limit ourselves in communicating with the world of wildlife. To make the fauna of your children not only characters from fairy tales, but also real creatures, visit the zoo more often. Each of your visits will help your children make many discoveries, give them the joy of communicating with nature, raising them to be kind, caring, responsible.

Located on the southernmost border of Uzbekistan, the unique Termez Zoo is a center for rare and endangered species of animals listed in the "Red Book", their artificial breeding and familiarization of the population with the fauna of the region, the republic and other countries. In addition, it is a cultural, educational and scientific research institution for the conservation and breeding of rare and valuable animal species.

"The Termez Zoo was established in 1934 on the basis of the nature department of the regional Museum of Local Lore," says Bahodir Toshboev, director of the zoo. - For this purpose, the institution was allocated a protected area of 20 hectares.
Over the past period, the menagerie has grown and developed. Thanks to the efforts of the team, thanks to the modern design and the work performed, the appearance of the park has changed beyond recognition. The contribution of such employees as Uygun Pardayeva, Zarina Rajapova, Dilbar Yuldosheva, Ugildona Mamayusupova, Rozia Kenzhayeva and others to the establishment of the institution is invaluable and huge.
Currently, the zoo is actively replenishing its collection of animals. Rare and unique animals come from zoos in the CIS and abroad. The zoo's collection includes 382 exotic and rare animals and birds representing more than 141 species. More than a third of them are listed in the "Red Book".

Researchers and zookeepers are doing their best to smooth out the lack of natural habitat. Thus, the diet of all predatory animals and birds is close to natural, the replacement food is balanced on a scientific basis and tested by many years of experience, and its composition is also close to that produced in natural conditions. This certainly has a positive effect on the health of animals.
Taking into account the sultry climate of Termez, in order to create a microclimate, almost all aviaries with animals and birds are equipped with reservoirs that are filled with running water from the irrigation system. The unique water supply system of the wards and the park territory is provided with life-giving moisture on a hot southern day from the majestic Amu Darya River flowing nearby.

Summer aviaries for parrots have been created, and an aviary for birds of prey and African ostriches has been reconstructed. A place has been prepared for a new behemoth, whose arrival is expected soon.
Veterinary clinics, bacteriological, toxicological and biochemical laboratories are available to provide veterinary care. A park is a park - landscaping and landscaping are constantly being carried out.

One more thing is a small thing, but significant. Each of us is bothered at least once by our friends with their questions. So, for the convenience of visitors, each aviary is equipped with an exhibition table, according to which children and their parents can get a brief biological description of the specimen.

As a bonus for children, there is a walking "steam train" on the territory of the zoo, as well as horse-drawn carriage rides. There are various attractions, cafes and kiosks where you can have lunch, buy ice cream, water, toys and souvenirs.
For students of secondary schools, teachers conduct open lessons and various activities here, which allows the younger generation to enrich their knowledge of the animal world.
It should be noted that the southernmost zoo in Uzbekistan is visited annually by more than 200,000 people.
The zoo is considered a favorite vacation spot for adults and children, and it is also visited by guests from abroad who have arrived in the Surkhandarya region.

A year ago, tiger cubs were born here to a pair of Amur tigers, which are known to be fastidious about their habitat and captivity. The lion families have also been replenished with offspring. The young ones are especially popular with children who are happy to be photographed with Zita and Gita cubs and Simba the lion cub, as well as a brown bear cub, making the hearts of moms and sometimes dads tremble, asking several times about the safety of this venture.
