Sergei Yesenin Museum
The Sergei Yesenin Museum in Tashkent is one of the most important cultural institutions in the capital of Uzbekistan. It was opened in 1981.
The exposition includes more than 3,000 exhibits related to the poet's life and creative activity in Tashkent. Many of these exhibits were donated to the museum by the poet's descendants.
Working hours and conditions of visiting the museum
The museum is open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 17:00. Before visiting, it is necessary to arrange the date of the visit by phone: +998 (71) 237-11-79, otherwise you risk simply not getting to the museum. The building is small, and several groups may be cramped indoors. When the tour is for one group, the other group may simply not be allowed inside at that time. As for tickets, admission to the literary museum is free for everyone.
The museum is very popular not only in Uzbekistan: Thousands of tourists from other countries seek to visit here every year. According to statistics, the museum is visited by an average of 5,000 people per year.
The history of the Sergei Yesenin Museum in Tashkent
In the late 70s of the XX century, the idea came to create a Public Museum in Tashkent dedicated to the poet's life and work, and only then (as mentioned above - in 1981) the State Literary Museum of Sergei Yesenin was opened.
The exhibition is located in a house that was built at the end of the 19th century. For more than 100 years there was a children's library.
The building has already undergone restoration, and it was reopened to the public in the late 90s. Numerous collections were also replenished by donating exhibits to the museum directly from Yesenin's friends and family.
