Norbutbiya Madrasah
The Norbutabiya madrasah is a striking example of the craftsmanship of Kokand architects and craftsmen. Built at the end of the 18th century on Chorsu Square, it was the largest religious center of the city. And in the 19th century, the largest center of knowledge in Kokand.
Despite the single-storey building, the building is distinguished by its monumental design. High peshtak, double arch, massive towers complete its grandiose appearance. The facade wall is lined with brick. The interior of the Norbutabiya madrasah is an enclosed structure. There are hujras around the courtyard - cells for students, a mosque and a classroom - darshan. After the republic gained independence, this madrasah was reopened, and now more than eighty students study there.
