Architectural Monument Khayrabad Eshan Complex
The Khayrabad Eshan architectural complex in Tashkent is an important historical and iconic monument whose history dates back to the XVIII–XIX centuries. The complex was built at the expense and in honor of a major Sufi figure of that time, Khayrabad Eshan, who, according to some sources, was one of the enlighteners and translators of Turkic literature.
The ensemble reflects the traditional type of the quarter religious center of old Tashkent, which originally included a mausoleum, a small mosque and a courtyard with a swimming pool. The central element is the Mausoleum, which is a strict structure made of baked bricks. The mosque of the complex, built in the traditions of local architecture, served as a spiritual center for the nearby mahalla.
Despite significant changes in urban development and historical disasters, the Khayrabad Eshan complex has survived to this day as one of the few authentic fragments of the old city, preserving a quiet and sacred atmosphere among modern Tashkent. It remains an active place of worship and an important cultural heritage site.
