The State Museum of History and Culture of the Andijan region
The Andijan Regional State Museum of History and Culture currently has departments such as "Zhome memory obidasi" ("Cathedral Memorial Monument"), "Bobur uy-musei" ("Bobur House Museum"), "Chilpon Yedgorlik Musei" ("Chulpon Memorial Museum"), "Kala yedgorlik majmuasi" (“Kala Memorial Complex"), which houses over 110,000 exhibits, as well as the Khabibiy Yedgorlik Museum branch (“Habibi Memorial Museum”).
The gallery of literature and art of the Zhome Museum Obidasi department ("Cathedral Memorial Monument") houses over 20 thousand documents, manuscripts and books published at various times, unique works, objects reflecting the literary atmosphere and folk art of Andijan. The Bobur House Museum (inside the Ark complex) houses exhibits dating back to the reign of Zahiriddin Muhammad Bobur and the Boburids, the Kala memorial monument dates back to the history of Andijan in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and the museums of Abdulhamid Chulpon and Zokirjon Habibi have exhibits that allow us to present the life and work of creative personalities who made a worthy contribution. contribution to the development of Uzbek literature.
—About 40-42 thousand people visited our museum two years ago, and over 70 thousand in 2019," says Rokhatoy Mukhammedova, deputy director of the State Museum of History and Culture of the Andijan Region. — Over 250 foreign tourists also got acquainted with the exhibits of the museum.
A shop has been set up to sell souvenirs to foreign tourists. A Wi-Fi zone has been created on the territory of the museum for free use of the Internet. Such facilities help to increase the flow of tourists visiting the museum.
In order to increase the attendance of the museum by the population, especially young people, together with the regional branches of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and the Hunarmand Association, numerous exhibitions of works of fine and folk art were held.
Together with the regional Department of Public Education, a lot of work has also been done to organize regular visits to the museum by students. For high school students, literature, fine arts and history lessons are held once a year in the relevant departments of the museum.
For several years now, the museum administration has been organizing joint scientific expeditions together with scientists from the Samarkand Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. As a result of excavations and research work on the territory of the archaeological monument “Kushtepa” of the Kurgantepa district, almost 5 thousand ancient clay products were found. They were transferred to the museum's fund and presented to the general public as part of the exhibition “Masterpieces of the Ancient Earth". These items will be presented at an exhibition organized recently at the State Museum of History of Uzbekistan.
"The museum houses about 2,000 manuscripts from various periods of time," says Ganizhon Kosimov, head of the Manuscript and Lithographic Book storage sector. — Experts are studying their scientific and historical significance. Work is also underway to create an electronic catalog of the museum's exhibits.
The museum staff also carried out extensive work on establishing international cooperation last year. A memorandum of cooperation was signed with the Sulaimon-Too National Historical and Archaeological Museum Complex Osh region of the Kyrgyz Republic. As part of the cooperation, a traveling exhibition “Sulaimon-Too — an international heritage site” was organized in Andijan. A seminar was held in Osh on the topic “Cooperation of museums that have preserved common values in the Ferghana Valley.” This helps to strengthen cultural and historical cooperation between the two neighboring nations and increase the flow of tourists.
In order to expand the scope of international cooperation, a meeting was held with representatives of the Hungarian National Museum, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Northwestern University of Xi'an, China. During the discussions at the meetings, suggestions were made about establishing partnerships in the future.
On the eve of the Navruz holiday, a traveling exhibition “The tourist potential of Andijan” is scheduled to be held in Osh. In April-May, in cooperation with the Russian National Cultural Center and the Orenburg Museum of Local Lore of the Russian Federation, a traveling exhibition of the Orenburg Museum of Local Lore will be held at the Andijon Kalasi memorial complex of the State Museum of History and Culture of the Andijan Region.
