Museum of Modern Art of Uzbekistan
The Museum of Modern Art of Uzbekistan (Uzbek: O'zbekiston zamonaviy san'at muzeyi; CAMUZ) is a museum in the form of an art gallery. It was opened in 1983 in the city of Urgench in the building of the first post office, which dates back to 1910. The Museum is a structural unit of the Cultural Heritage Agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The museum's work is aimed at achieving such goals as: storage and replenishment of the museum's collection, scientific study and promotion of contemporary art and the museum collection.
To date, the Museum of Modern Art of Uzbekistan has two branches where you can get acquainted with the exhibits on display.:
The Lazgi Museum in the city of Urgench.
The house Museum of musician Kamiljan Ataniyazov in the city of Urgench.
About 1,000 paintings, graphics and sculptures are presented to visitors in permanent exhibitions, the authors of which are more than 200 artists of different schools and trends who have left their mark on the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
The museum's doors are open not only to artists of Uzbekistan, but also to artists of other nations and cultures. Joint exhibitions were held here with representatives of Japan, the People's Republic of China, Poland, Switzerland and others.
The museum consists of 4 halls:
Sculpture Hall;
The hall of Khorezm craftsmen.
The graphics room.
The Hall of Modern Art.
The museum also has an auction hall and a library.
Since January 14, 2022, the museum's management has been headed by Tashova Shirin Abdirapikovna.
