Mullo-Kirghiz Madrasah

The Mullo-Kirghiz Madrasah was built in the city center at the beginning of the 20th century under the guidance of talented architect Usto Kirghiz and named after an outstanding Uzbek builder, architect and decorator of buildings, a truly great artist..

There are many legends among the local population about the talent of the architect who built the madrasah. One of them says that one day the great usto was drinking tea and watched from a distance the work of a student who was building a wall. When he saw the error, he corrected the assistant, but he could not figure out how to put the brick. Then the master threw a brick from his place and it took the right position, although it was located at a considerable distance.

The madrasah building is an irregular pentahedron surrounded by hujras, which was due to the relief of the land. The domed mosque and darshona structures are built together, which somewhat violates the symmetry of the main facade, which is also decorated with a portal-domed entrance. A small minaret is visible in the depths of the building. The architecture of the main facade is emphasized by the pointed arcade, highlighting the clear rhythm of the khujr. The mosaic of blue, green, white and yellow colors is widely used in the decoration of the portal.

In 2011, the reconstruction of the historical monument of the Mullah-Kirghiz madrasah began, and work is currently underway to restore the original appearance of the building.
