Chubin Madrasah

In the northern part of the city, opposite the towers of the Ak-Sarai portal, the Chubin madrasah has been preserved. It was built of burnt brick at the end of the 17th century and traditionally included a mosque (khanaka), classrooms (darshona) and huts for students.

The mosque and darshona are covered with large domes, while the hujras are covered with small ones. The interiors feature decorative gancha trim. The madrasah was renovated in 1994 – 1996.

The Shakhrisabz History Museum is now located here.

A unique exhibit of the museum is a Zoroastrian ossuary discovered in the vicinity of Shakhrisabz.

It contains an image of a ritual scene involving a Zoroastrian priest.
