Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a Catholic church in Tashkent, which is one of the most beautiful and unusual architectural monuments of the city. It harmoniously combines the grandeur of the Gothic style and the atmosphere of spiritual silence. This cathedral, also known as the Catholic Church, serves as the spiritual center for the Catholic community of Uzbekistan and attracts tourists with its history, architecture and significance.
History of the Cathedral

Construction of the cathedral began in 1912, when Tashkent was home to a significant Catholic community, mainly consisting of immigrants from Poland, Lithuania and other regions of the Russian Empire. The temple was designed in the Gothic style, which makes it unique for Central Asia. The construction of the cathedral was interrupted several times due to historical events such as the 1917 revolution and subsequent political changes in the region. During the Soviet period, construction was frozen, and the temple itself was used for secular purposes. It was not until the 1980s that the building was returned to the Catholic Church, and in 2000 the cathedral was fully completed and consecrated.
