Architectural monument Khan tombs of Dahmai Shokhon
The rulers of Kokand and famous personalities of the city are buried in the tomb of Damai Shahon. The tomb of the Kokand khans was built in the era of Umarkhan, in 1825. The ensemble consists of three parts: a domed room with a portal, an aivan mosque with two columns and a family cemetery.
The tomb of Damai Shahon is surrounded by a fence, in its center a number of tombs and burials are grouped, including a marble slab over Umarkhan's grave. The facade of Umarkhan's mausoleum is very picturesque. The entrance doors of the tomb are decorated with wood carvings with excerpts from the Koran in Arabic and samples of Umarkhan's poetry.
The strict forms of the mausoleum and its squat dome give the tomb of the Khans a harsh character. The richness of ornamental motifs and the variety of applied cladding techniques emphasize the beauty of the tomb. The beauty of the decor is complemented by two carved doors - one in the portal, the second at the entrance to the mosque.
